The Steinway Hunter Book
THE EDISON GRAND

"I am the fourth owner of this piano...I do believe it should stay in New York, it's part of New York history, it's part of Steinway history, and Steinway is New York." - Bob Friedman
>Listen on NPR : Scott Simon talks to Robert Friedman about his Edison Steinway Piano >>Read in the NY Times : "Thomas Edison invents the sound bite" by James Barron
A PERFECTED DESIGN The design was pretty well perfected by 1878. The one Thomas Edison bought is one of the most historical Steinways out there...it plays well, but has all the original dings and scratches.
THE ACTUAL PIANO Thomas A. Edison purchased Steinway grand piano serial number 66793 in 1890 and owned it for almost forty years. We have all the paperwork that followed it around during its life.

UNMATCHED QUALITY "I have decided to keep your grand piano. For some reason unknown to me it gives better results than any so far tried. Please send bill with lowest price." Yours, Thomas A Edison
